One of the biggest and most important objectives for Volyxis is the ability for it to run completely cross-platform, both Editor and Game Runtime.
This is something I have personally vowed to ensure from the start. We're no longer in 2001 where Windows is the biggest flavour and Linux might get a look in.
How cool would it be to be able to have one game source and compile across Windows, MacOS and Linux distros? Very cool IMO.
Clearly, Windows is still the most dominated market, so we first develop the Editor and Game Runtime to work with Windows, as that's what most of the testers will be running anyway, but as we develop Volyxis, we are constantly ensuring our sources are shaped and future-proofed for MacOS and Linux as we go along. So we're not working along a linear Windows line and then in 12 months time we go "ok, time for MacOS" and have to backpedal a lot of steps and rewrite a bunch of code. If we do it AS we go along, I can't see there being much to worry about.
Each platform brings its own strengths and weaknesses but with the stacks, I'm not concerned about anything at this point to be honest.
